01 — What it does

6 parts

A rack is a system worth writing down

Everything about your rack in one place, and a record of what you've done with it.

  • Module catalogueTrack every module with manufacturer, HP and category, organised into racks with a visual HP layout. Import a whole rack from ModularGrid in one go, or add modules by hand. Your own notes and roles sit alongside the shared spec data.
  • Patch logRecord what you built: the modules involved, the role each one played, whether it was clock, voice, modulation, control or effects, plus tempo, intent and notes. Attach photos, video or audio so a patch has a sound attached to it, not just a description. Quick Patch mode captures one in seconds while you're still stood at the rack.
  • InsightsUsage metrics for every module, including stagnation scores and role diversity, so the modules you've stopped reaching for become obvious. Pattern analysis surfaces the pairs and trios you keep building with — and the combinations you've never once tried. A contribution heatmap shows how often you actually sit down and patch.
  • AI assistantAn assistant that knows your specific rack, not modular synthesis in the abstract. Ask it for patch ideas, techniques or ways into a module you've never got on with. Weekly and monthly challenges are generated around the gear you've been neglecting.
  • Community and sharingPublish a patch to its own public page, fork someone else's into your own collection, and follow what other players are building. A forum covers discussion, questions and gigs — event posts carry a venue map, RSVPs and a calendar link. A featured Patch of the Week goes out as a digest.
  • Studio hardwareA small range of 3D-printed accessories for the setups the app is already tracking: Eurorack stands and skiff cases, patch cable holders, headphone stands. Made to order in any of 22 colours, £14.99 to £59.99, shipped across the UK. Wishlists, gift cards and back-in-stock alerts all run through your PatchBank account.

02 — Why it exists

A modular rack is a system, but it doesn't behave like one in your memory. You build something genuinely good on a Tuesday night, you don't write any of it down, and by the weekend it's gone. Then it happens again.

The other half of the problem is quieter. Three modules end up doing most of the work while four have sat untouched since the day you bought them — and you'd never notice, because nothing is counting. Spreadsheets don't help; they tell you what you own, not what you use.

PatchBank counts. It keeps the patches you'd otherwise lose, and it's honest with you about the rack you've actually built versus the one you think you have.
